The “guidelines” of the Scientific Medical Societies are systematically developed aids for physicians to support decision-making in specific situations. They are based on current scientific knowledge and procedures that have proven effective in practice. They ensure greater safety in medicine, but should also take economic aspects into account. The “guidelines” are not legally binding for physicians and therefore have neither a liability-establishing nor a liability-exempting effect.
The German-speaking Association of Microsurgeons regularly organizes consensus conferences on various topics. The currently valid statements, consensus resolutions and guidelines can be found here as PDF files.
